Welcome to CastQuiz (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the CastQuiz app (the “App”) and related services (collectively, “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you accept the practices described below.

1. What Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Profile Data: Optional data you choose to add (e.g. display name, avatar).
  • Quiz Participation Data: Answers, scores, history, progress.
  • Communication: If you contact support or send feedback, we collect those messages and your email.
  • In-App Purchases / Transactions: Payment or billing-related data (e.g. transaction IDs). We do not (unless you explicitly provide) store full payment card numbers — payments are handled by third-party processors.

1.2 Automatically Collected Data

  • Device & System Information: Device type, operating system, version, unique identifiers (e.g. device ID), OS settings.
  • Log Data: IP address, time stamps, HTTP headers, app crashes, error logs.
  • Usage Data: How you use the app — which screens you visit, time spent, interactions, features used.
  • Analytics & Performance Metrics: Aggregated metrics to understand app performance, user behavior, errors.

1.3 Location Information

  • If you consent, we may collect approximate location (e.g. via IP-based geolocation) to enhance content relevance (e.g. regional quizzes). We do not collect precise GPS location unless we explicitly ask and you consent.

1.4 Third-Party / External Sources

  • We may integrate with third-party services (analytics providers, crash reporters, advertising networks). Those services may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the App and Services.
  • To process your transactions and in-app purchases (via third-party payment providers).
  • To personalize your experience (e.g. quiz recommendations, difficulty adjustments).
  • To analyze usage patterns, trends, and performance to fix bugs, improve features, and optimize the app.
  • To send you service-related communications (e.g. updates, notices, support responses).
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security issues, or violations of our Terms.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce policies.

3. Sharing & Disclosure of Information

We will not rent or sell your personal information to third parties. We may share data in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers / Partners: We may share data with third parties who help us operate the Services (e.g. analytics, crash reporting, payment processors). They are contractually limited to use your data only for the purposes we specify.
  • Legal & Regulatory: If required by law, court order, or government request, or to exercise or protect our legal rights (e.g. in response to subpoenas or claims).
  • Business Transfers: If CastQuiz is merged, sold, or reorganized, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction (with appropriate safeguards).
  • Aggregate / De-identified Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized data that cannot reasonably identify you, for research, analytics, or public insights.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information as long as needed to provide you the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.
If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. under GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights such as:

  • Access / Portability: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction or updating of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion / Erasure: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to legal exceptions).
  • Restriction: Request limitation of processing in certain contexts.
  • Opt-out / Withdraw consent: If you have given consent for certain processing (e.g. location), you may later withdraw it.
  • Do Not Sell / Share: If applicable (e.g. under CCPA), you may request that your personal data not be sold/shared to third parties.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child provided us data, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. For example, we use encryption (in transit and at rest where feasible), access controls, secure servers, and internal policies.

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Transfer of Data

Your information may be transferred to, stored, or processed in countries other than your residence (e.g. servers or third-party providers). By using the App, you consent to such transfers, provided that we ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses, data protection mechanisms).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (e.g. when features change or we add new services). When we make significant changes, we will notify users (e.g. via app notification or email) and update the effective date. Your continued use of the app after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
